FIRST WINTER STORM OF 2012 DROPS 16 INCHES ON KILLINGTON RESORT
Killington Resort adds over 35 trails with new snowfall in three days
KILLINGTON, Vt. (January 14, 2012) - Vermont’s Killington Resort, the largest ski and snowboard resort in the East, received its first winter storm of 2012 with 16 inches of new snow since Thursday morning allowing Ski Patrol to open more than 35 new trails.
“We are very pleased with the new snow fall,” said Rob Megnin, director of sales, marketing and reservations for Killington Resort. “The timing of this storm couldn’t be better with guests arriving for the extended holiday weekend and the upcoming Winter Dew Tour, the largest on-snow event in the East, next weekend,” continued Megnin.

Killington currently has 101 open trails, which translates to 45 miles of skiing and riding for all ability levels across six peaks. The Resort has received 73 inches of snow so far this season with an average mid-mountain base depth of 24-36 inches. This weekend, snowmaking will continue and so will preparation for the Winter Dew Tour, January 19-22, where the best freeskiers and snowboarders from around the world will compete in Superpipe and Slopestyle competitions at Bear Mountain.
While skiers and riders are rejoicing with the outstanding powder conditions, road crews from the Vermont Department of Transportation are out in full force plowing, sanding and salting area roads.
