The largest winter music festival in the East, slopestyle competition, moguls, pond skimming on tap

KILLINGTON, Vt. (March 8, 2012) - Vermont’s Killington Resort has created a jam packed lineup of events, live music and competitions for all ages to welcome the spring season. With events for skiers, riders and families, Killington’s calendar has enough to keep everyone coming back for more.

NOR’BEASTER, March 23-April 1
Killington Resort kicks of the spring season with a ten day event set to include the Tweed Winter Carnival, Monster Energy’s K-Town Showdown, SnowMont Music Festival and The Hibernation along with spring skiing and riding.

Tweed Winter Carnival, March 23-24
Pico Mountain teams up with Tweed River Productions to kick off NOR’BEASTER with the first ever Tweed Winter Carnival. This three day music festival will feature Americana Roots-style music including bluegrass, rock and folk from local New England bands featuring Bow Thayer, Perfect Trainwreck, Waylon Speed, Pistol Whipped as well as a variety of family activities.

Monster Energy’s K-Town Showdown Slopestyle Competition, March 24
The final event of the 2011-12 Monster Energy’s K-Town Showdown Series will wrap up with a slopestyle competition at Bear Mountain’s Under Armour MTN Dream Maker Terrain Park. This event is open to both skiers and riders of all ages and ability levels; prizes will be awarded to top finishers.

SnowMont Music Festival, March 30-April 1
Killington Resort will host SnowMont Music Festival, the largest three day winter music festival in the East that will feature world-class artists including headliners Snoop Dogg, Kaskade and The Flaming Lips for a total of more than 40 bands performing on multiple stages. The main stage will be at Ramshead parking lot and after hour shows at Snowshed Lodge. Festival tickets are on sale now along with lodging packages.

The Hibernation, March 31-April 1
To celebrate Bear Mountain’s last weekend of the season, freeskiers and riders are invited to join the final party with SHRED SESSIONS on March 31 at The Stash in the morning and Under Armour MTN Dream Maker Terrain Park in the afternoon. Participants will enjoy music and prizes will be handed out throughout the day. Additionally, Hot Dogs for Hope, a BBQ hot dog fundraiser, will take place in The Stash with proceeds going to the Rutland Humane Society. Air, Metal & Mayhem, a superpipe and rail jam competition will wrap up the final day at Bear Mountain for the 2011-12 winter season. Online pre-registration will open for skiers and riders on March 19 at 8:00 p.m. EST.

Freestyle Frenzy, April 7
Killington Resort introduces Freestyle Frenzy, an all-new mogul event, to the spring event lineup. Open to skiers of all ages, Freestyle Frenzy will feature single and dual runs on Lower Superstar with prizes awarded to top finishers in each category. Online pre-registration is open and all proceeds from the event will go to support Killington Mountain School’s (KMS) freestyle program including scholarships and other program costs.

Bud Light Intergalactic Pond Skimming Championships, April 14
Killington Resort tops off the 2011-12 event season with the Bud Light Intergalactic Pond Skimming Championships, where 100 of the bravest (and craziest) skiers and riders attempt to skim across a giant pond filled with ice cold water. Competitors will be judged on skim technique, costume and best splash.
