KILLINGTON, Vt. (Winter 2008/09) – From the Graduated Length Method (GLM), to the Accelerated Ski Method, equipment R & D and designated teaching terrain, Killington Resort’s Ski and Snowboard School has long been an innovator when it comes to teaching skiing and snowboarding. In fact, over the past half century, more skiers have learned at Killington than any other resort in the country.

This season, Killington Resort will once again provide skiers and snowboarders industry-leading learning opportunities that focus on innovation and cutting-edge techniques with our Max 3 and Max 5 children’s programs and the Burton Learn to Ride program, plus our new Max 5 Adult Group Programs. Killington Ski and Snowboard School Programs provide participants a great opportunity to learn and improve their skills as they explore Killington’s expansive terrain.

“By guaranteeing a maximum of three or five students per instructor, combined with the experience of our teaching professionals, Max 3/Max 5 offers an exceptional overall value in both the enjoyment participants have on the slopes and the quality of the learning experience,” said Joe Wood director of the Killington Ski and Snowboard School.

Through our partnership with Burton Snowboards, Killington offers an improved Burton Learn to Ride program for the upcoming season with the installation of a new 500-foot Magic Carpet. Burton Learn to Ride incorporates the right Burton equipment with proven teaching methods and small class sizes to make learning to snowboard easy and fun for those trying the sport for the first time. The goal of the Burton Learn to Ride program is for participants to link turns after only one lesson.

With more than 50 Ski and Snowboard School teaching professionals certified as a PSIA Level 3 instructor or higher, combined with the best teaching terrain in New England on Snowshed Slope and Ramshead Mountain, Killington Resort offers an outstanding learning experience for skiers and riders of all ages and abilities.

“Our dedicated team of professional instructors and their passion for making the learning experience fun and rewarding is what sets our ski and snowboard school programs apart,” Wood added.

Located at the Ramshead Family Center, the children’s Ski and Snowboard School at Killington offers Max 3/Max 5 programs, designed to provide individualized attention as children are introduced to snow sports. Max 3 offers one instructor for every three students in the First Tracks program for children ages 2-3, while Max 5 offers one instructor for every five students in the Ministars (skiing) and Lowriders (snowboarding) for children ages 4-6, Superstars for children ages 6-12 and SnowZone for kids ages 13-18. During the holiday periods Camp Freeride, also a Max 5 program, offers intermediate and advanced level kids ages 7-18 and opportunity to improve their terrain parks skills.
