KILLINGTON RESORT EXPANDS MOUNTAIN BIKING TRAIL NETWORK

Resort invests in beginner terrain, expands lift operations as phase one in multi-year growth

KILLINGTON, Vt. (June 28, 2014) – Vermont’s Killington Resort, a four season destination, has expanded its mountain biking trail network to include beginner and progression terrain alongside the classic New England downhill trails for which The Beast of the East is known. Riders new to gravity-fed downhill riding and cross country riders of all abilities will enjoy two new progression trails located near Snowshed Slope.

Summer 2014 also brings an expansion of the lift network serving mountain bikers at Killington with the addition of the Snowshed Express Quad. The chairlift will serve lower mountain terrain near Snowshed Slope on weekends and holidays, complementing the K-1 Express Gondola’s daily peak service. The new Killington Peak Lodge facility provides food and beverage service with a new summer menu, plus stellar floor-to-ceiling views on all sides.

Killington Resort’s Learn To Ride Packages are available for just $99, and include direction from IMBA certified instructors, mountain bike rental equipment, and lower mountain lift and trail access. New for Summer 2014 is a 2-Day Upgrade, which provides two additional days of equipment and access for just $99 after day one on the trails, plus discounted trail access all summer long.

The Killington Bike Shop doubled its fleet of downhill and cross country mountain bikes this year, adding new Scott and Kona models to its inventory of nearly 120 machines. Downhill models sport up to eight inches of travel in front and rear suspension, and new cross country models feature 650b (27.5”) wheels, the latest innovation in mountain bike technology.

“During the next five years, we plan to invest heavily in Killington to ensure that the mountain and the local economy continue to grow and thrive,” said Tracy Taylor, director of operations for Pico Mountain. “We are in the midst of planning new four season projects including a Soaring Eagle zip line on Snowshed, a Big Zip and aerial park from Killington Peak, a mountain coaster, an indoor venue for concerts, events and action sports, and an aggressive expansion of our mountain bike trail network, just to name a few.”
