SLIDE, HIKE OR RIDE – KILLINGTON RESORT & PICO MOUNTAIN OFFER SUMMER, FALL FOLIAGE FUN

KILLINGTON, Vt. – Summer fun rolls on long after the snow melts as Killington Resort and the Pico Mountain Adventure Center offer many entertaining activities for kids of all ages. The Pico Mountain Adventure center and Killingotn's Kona "Groove Approved" Mountain Bike Park open June 28th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Mountain Biking

Killington Resort’s Kona “Groove Approved” Mountain Bike Park features 45+ miles and a 1,700-foot vertical drop spread across five mountain areas, all served by the K-1 Gondola, offering everything from classic cross country singletrack to challenging big-bike downhill and freeriding trails. This summer new trail features debut on some of our most challenging downhill trails. Plus, our new Skills Park in front of the K-1 Lodge will offer beginner riders a chance to gain experience riding on rocks, logs, berms and jumps found throughout our trail network.

As a Kona "Groove Approved" Mountain Bike Park, Killington offers a full rental fleet of Kona trail, freeride and downhill mountain bikes, including the Kona Coiler, Kona Dawg and the Kona Stinky. Mountain bike and equipment rental is available in Killington’s rental and repair shop located in the Killington Base Lodge, adjacent to the K-1 Gondola. Access on the K-1 Gondola with a mountain bike is weather permitting.

Hiking

K-1 Gondola-serviced hiking on 50-plus miles of wilderness trails. Explore the beauty and nature of Killington’s seven peaks up close, including the 4,241-foot summit of Killington Peak. The K-1 Gondola is open (weather permitting) from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Climbing Walls

The Climbing Walls at the Pico Mountain Adventure Center provide a great way to learn how to climb and a spectacular view of the mountains while doing so. Whether it’s your first ascent or you’re looking to hone your skills before heading out into the mountains, the Climbing Wall has everything you need.

Alpine Slides

Pico Mountain gives summertime vacationers a great way to catch a breeze with the Alpine Slide. Ride the chairlift to the top of Little Pico and take off down one of the tracks. S-turns, banks and straight-aways will keep you moving as you plunge down 650 vertical feet. Or for a more leisurely descent, feel free to hike down or take the chair lift back to the base area.

Mini-Golf

Pico Mountain offers 19 fun-filled holes of mini golf that will be sure to challenge, delight and amuse individuals of all ages.

Pico Power Jump (New for 2008) 

Experience the feeling of leaping tall buildings in a single bound! Or shoot upwards and experience the adrenaline rush of a single, double, or even a triple somersault all while safely secured by a power bungee.  The new quad Pico Power Jump makes it easy for kids and adults to bounce flip and fly!

The Killington and Pico Mountain Adventure Centers are open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on the following days:

• June 28th through September 1st (Daily)

• September 6th through September 28th (Saturday and Sunday only)

• October 4th through 13th (Daily) Mini Golf, Pico Power Jump and Climbing Walls will close Sept. 28th. All hours, rates and dates are for the summer-fall 2008 season and are subject to change without notice. For the latest schedule, click here!

Killington trails are closed for mountain biking at all other times during which biking services, including rescue and first aid, are not available.
