A free general admission viewing area will be available when Alpine World Cup skiing returns to the eastern US for the first time since 1991 on November 26-27 at Killington

KILLINGTON, Vt. (July 6, 2016) – Vermont’s Killington Resort, the largest ski and snowboard destination in Eastern North America, announced that VIP and grandstand tickets for the 2016 Audi FIS Ski World Cup have sold out in less than a day. Ski fans can still view the women’s giant slalom and slalom races in a free general admission area when Killington hosts the first Alpine World Cup event in the eastern US in 25 years on November 26-27.

“The World Cup events selling out this quickly shows the true demand for alpine skiing events of this caliber in the northeast and the astounding passion this region has for the sport,” said Michael Solimano, President and General Manager of Killington Resort. “Given Killington’s close proximity to major markets New York and Boston, the World Cup’s return has drawn significant interest throughout the northeast. Fans in attendance can expect to see the highest levels of competition and an electric atmosphere similar to the Olympics.”

The free viewing area will provide standing room access near the base of the Superstar trail with a jumbo screen for watching the full race course. Spectators will be able to see nearly half of the course from the viewing area, which is significantly higher than the average for World Cup races. The free viewing area will accommodate approximately 7,500 spectators. Killington will also provide free parking and shuttle buses for event spectators during the weekend.

“The free viewing access area will be great for fans that were not able to secure tickets before they sold out, as well as those visiting Killington to ski and snowboard themselves,” Solimano continued. “In total, more than 10,000 spectators will be able to view the World Cup events at any given time so alpine ski fans can be a part of the action regardless of having a VIP or grandstand ticket. It promises to be a memorable occasion for everyone at Killington during the weekend.”

Along with hosting the Audi FIS Ski World Cup, Killington will be open to the public for skiing and snowboarding during the weekend events. For additional information about Killington Resort and the 2016 Audi FIS Ski World Cup, please visit www.killington.com/worldcup.
