Killington Bike Park hires Pro Mountain Bike Racer Amy Alton to lead Friday night rides and monthly Gravity Camps
KILLINGTON, Vt. (August 1, 2016) – Vermont’s Killington Resort, a four season destination and home of the Killington Bike Park, announces the Killington Divas of Dirt, an initiative led by Pro Downhill/Enduro Racer Amy Alton and the Killington Bike Park to build a community of passionate female mountain bikers.
Female mountain bikers of all ability levels are welcome to share their passion for the sport and make new connections at all events, including bi-weekly Friday night group rides and happy hours, monthly Gravity Camps and a women’s weekend later this fall.
“I’m thrilled to partner with Killington Bike Park in support of a fierce and vibrant women’s biking community,” says Amy Alton, professional downhill/enduro mountain bike racer. “It’s our shared goal to foster an inclusive, progressive atmosphere for women to enjoy all the Killington Bike Park has to offer. Whether looking to hone skills, explore new terrain, or just chill with like-minded women, lady riders throughout the region will have fun with the Killington Divas of Dirt, regardless of ability level,” adds Alton.
Friday Night Rides
Every other Friday starting July 22, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. the Killington Divas of Dirt encourage female riders to join a hosted group ride, exploring the trails throughout Killington Bike Park. The evening includes free bike safety checks, plus discounted Bike Park lift tickets and rental bikes. Riders without a Bike Park Season Pass can use Killington’s lifts for just $20, and combined lift ticket and bike rentals are available for $39.
After the Killington Bike Park closes, the Killington Divas of Dirt enjoy a local happy hour destination. Riders who attend three or more sessions will receive a special gift of appreciation from the Killington Bike Shop and sponsors for strengthening the women’s biking community at Killington.
Led by Pro Downhill/Enduro Racer Amy Alton, monthly Gravity Camps are specifically designed for ladies looking to improve downhill biking proficiency, from fundamentals to freeride features.
Women-specific Gravity Camps are scheduled for the following Thursdays: August 18, September 8, and October 6, 2016 – all at Killington Bike Park. Camp cost is $100 for season pass holders, $150 for non-season pass holders and $200 if bike rental is required. Limited to 10 riders per Gravity Camp.
