Killington’s Snow Sports School won the 2015 Conversion Cup by the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA), recognized as the best place to learn to ski or snowboard in the United States thanks to the country’s largest Terrain Based Learning facility and a forerunning 4-day Learn to Ski and Snowboard package that includes four days of personal instruction on-snow, plus a free pair of Elan skis with bindings or a free Burton snowboard with bindings upon completion.
The 4-Day Discovery Program is open to aspiring skiers and snowboarders ages 18+, plus first time youth skiers ages 7-10.
January is National Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month, and Killington is celebrating with $49 packages all month long including 1-day lessons, equipment rentals, and Learning Area lift tickets for first-time skiers and snowboarders ages 7 and older.
On Friday, January 8, 2016, Killington and Pico Snow Sports Schools will join over 160 other ski areas across the country in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Largest Ski & Snowboard Lesson. Beginners are encouraged to preregister then join us at Killington’s Snowshed Slope and Pico’s Bonanza Learning Area for a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn new skills and make history.
Killington has again teamed up with renowned adventure skier Dan Egan this winter to offer All Terrain Ski Camps which will lead skiers and snowboarders on mountain adventures teaching skills including reading terrain and conditions, and picking the best lines down the mountain across varied terrain. The Snow Sports School has also partnered with Olympic Gold Medalist Donna Weinbrecht to offer Women’s Weekends – unforgettable learning experiences designed specifically for ladies.
For young skiers and snowboarders looking to start small, then go big, the season-long Unleashed Youth Camp offers a chance to build skills and make friends all winter. Unleashed meets every Saturday and Sunday of the season, and participants can choose any 20 dates to attend.
Killington has also developed a youth-specific freestyle competition called Mini Shred Madness, open to groms ages 13 and younger. Mini Shred Madness returns on January 16 at Killington and February 20 at Pico Mountain.
