Thanksgiving in Killington is more than overeating, football, and Black Friday bargains. Read on for the Insider scoop on filling up Thanksgiving - Killington-style.

 

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

Open Base Areas and Terrain Details

Check out where to start your day and what terrain you’ll find at our three open base areas. Open base areas will not be connected by open trails or lifts, but we are offering complimentary shuttle service between all three areas throughout the day.

  • K-1 Base Area
    • K-1 Lodge offers lift tickets, rentals, Guest Services, Killington Sports shop and food and beverage services daily; plus access to Peak Lodge for additional dining service.
    • The Roaring Brook Umbrella Bars will be serving up cocktails and hot beverages Friday and Saturday too; look for an outdoor BBQ on Friday (weather permitting).
    • Open terrain will be for intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders only this holiday weekend; no beginner terrain will be available from K-1 or Superstar Express.
  • Snowshed Base Area
    • Snowshed Lodge offers lift tickets, rentals, adult and private lessons, Killington Sports shop and food and beverage services, including light fare and apres at the Long Trail Pub.
    • Open terrain will be ideal for first-timers or those fairly new to sliding on snow, accessible by Snowshed Magic Carpet.
  • Ramshead Base Area
    • Ramshed Lodge offers lift tickets, rentals, adult and private lessons, Killington Sports shop; no food service for the holiday weekend.
    • Open terrain will be ideal for first-timers or those fairly new to sliding on snow here too, accessible by Ramshead Magic Carpet.

Childcare and Lesson Programs

Group and private sessions for first-timers and upper level skiers and snowboarders are available. Sorry, but we will not be able to offer lessons for green-circle skiers and snowboarders.

  • Friendly Penguin Child Care Center, located ground level of Ramshead Lodge.
  • Youth lessons (ages 4-18), register and meet at Ramshead Lodge.
    • Due to limited terrain, we will only offer first-timer and intermediate/advanced lessons.
  • Adult lessons (ages 19+), register and meet at Snowshed Lodge.
    • Due to limited terrain, we will only offer first-timer and intermediate/advanced lessons.
  • Private lessons (all ages), register and meet at Snowshed Lodge.

Run it off

The fifth annual Killington 5k Turkey Trot, Thursday November 26, starts at Jax Food & Games on Killington Road and gets underway at 9:30 a.m. Meet new friends, help local charities, and assuage some of that guilt you’ll feel later in the day as you stuff your face.


About that Turkey

Don’t worry, you can hit the slopes and have your turkey too. Check out these turkey-rific options:

  • Take the K-1 Express Gondola to the Peak Lodge (with or without ski and snowboard gear) for a Thanksgiving themed lunch with a view.

  • Enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 26 from 4:00-9:00 p.m. at the Clubhouse Grill. No reservations needed

  • The Wobbly Barn offers the choice of traditional Thanksgiving fare or its famous Steakhouse menu for turkey day dinner . Doors open at 4:30 p.m. No reservations will be accepted for the holiday; first come, first served


Family Fun

Snow isn't the only way to have fun around here, we've lined up some family-friendly activities to keep the action going all weekend long:

  • Scenic K-1 Express Gondola rides to Killington Peak's 4241' summit

  • The Beast Mountain Coaster, 4800 feet of gravity fueled thrills

  • The Skyeride, soaring more than 100 feet above Snowshed Pond

  • Killington Grand Spa treatments – relax like it’s your job

  • Warren Miller movie premiere: Chasing Shadows, Saturday November 28

  • Killington Sports on Route 4 -  holiday shopping without the crowds

  • Tony Lee Thomas, live at the Wobbly Barn Night Club Friday November 27 and Saturday November 28. High altitude entertainment with Killington’s most uplifting band.

  • Kids' Night Out, Saturday, November 28, 2015 from 6:00-11:00 p.m.
    • For guests staying at the Killington Grand or a Killington Resort Lodging property only, drop the kids off for an evening of arts and crafts, ski/snowboard related indoor activities and movie night while the adults hit the town
    • Meeting at Killington Grand Hotel, Northstar Room; drinks and snack will be provided (please be sure they’ve eaten dinner prior to arriving)
    • Children must be potty-trained to attend; there are no diaper changing facilities
    • $20 per child; space is limited and reservations are recommended; please call 800-621-6867 for more information and reservations
