From the Green Mountains to the Big Apple, countdown to the 2014 Winter Olympics begins - tuned into the TODAY Show Wednesday, February 6 for all the action.
What does February 6, 2013 mean to you? Just another Wednesday - hardly. For hundreds, thousands of athletes, this day means so much more than simply a midweek day. February 6 is exactly one year to the kickoff of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. This date means the world to many - this is what thousands and thousands of athletes dream of their entire life…all the sweat, the tears, the endless hours of dedication all come together for one common goal: to become an Olympian.
Killington Resort is proud to support all winter athletes, so proud that we’ve joined forces with our sister resort, Park City Mountain Resort along with NBC’s TODAY Show to begin the countdown to Sochi.
Wait a second, how dedicated are we? Well, three members of the Park City Park Crew drove rails from their world class terrain park in Utah to New York City – yes, that’s over 2,000 miles of dedication.

Rails, check. Now what? This is where The Beast shines. Killington has been making snow since mid-October, we have enough snow to truck (five truck loads to be exact) down to midtown Manhattan (don’t worry, we’re bringing the snow back to The Beast afterwards) so a few Olympic hopefulls can show the world their skills in the Rockefeller Center for the Today Show. Snow, check. Now it’s time to set up a slopestyle course – in the heart of New York City.
Oh, it gets better…U.S. Freestyle skiing team athletes, including Park City All Star Tom Wallisch and Bobby Brown and Keri Herrman along with Killington’s own Bryan Kreischer will hit the course live on the air Wednesday morning. If you are looking for something to do at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, stop by the Rockefeller Center to meet Olympic hopefuls and get pictures taken in a Killington Resort chairlift. The event is free and open to the public. Arrive at 49th and Rockefeller Center before 7 a.m. for best viewing.
