NOR’BEASTER Spring Celebration Returns
Posted by Killington Resort on February 1, 2013
As we begin our spring snowmaking expansion (have you seen the glacier we made on Superstar?), I wanted to review our plans to return Killington to its rightful place as the leader of spring time celebrations. As many of you know, we created a spring series of music and lifestyle happenings last year called NOR’BEASTER. This year’s series kicks off March 17 with our first weekend March 21-24 for the snoe.down festival featuring moe.
The fun continues for eight weeks with various other music, programing, and lifestyle elements through April and into May. Of course, we shall not forget the highlight of the celebration with the return of the Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge (BMMC) on April 7.
As you’re aware, we are bringing back the Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge. We want to try to keep all the aspects that made it great in the past as well as ensure everyone has a great time this year.
Here are some highlights:
Tailgating on the slopes
We will allow guests to set up their viewing sections on the slopes like we did years ago. Furniture, barbecues, food, drinks and good times are all encouraged.
We will be allowing guests to bring alcohol for "personal consumption". Please bring a designated driver. We will give more details later, however, the items we will not allow are fairly basic and common sense including no selling alcohol, no giving to minors, no drugs, no fighting or causing disturbances to other guests. And the biggest no-no of all, and one we rely on you not to do, is driving home after drinking. We want you to make it home after having a great time at this event.
There will be security on site (no, we won’t frisk you when you walk in), but they will be on the watch so that everyone is behaving and following the rules.
There will also be a police presence at the exit to be on the lookout for drivers who may be driving home after drinking. As a service to our guests we will be providing shuttle buses and there will be taxi services available.
We are planning on allowing guests to arrive Friday night to set up their locations on the snow (we are hoping that this allows everyone to sleep in and not feel like you need to start tailgating early in the morning).
We really want this to be a great celebration of spring, moguls and the Killington community. Please help us make this an event we can be proud of and keep going into future years!
Late spring plan:
After the BMMC, our plan is to move skiing operations back to the K-1 basin highlighted by Superstar and the Roaring Brook Umbrella Bars. We have several new events we are working on through the beginning of May, that we believe will re-establish Killington as the true Beast of spring.
Although we have not finalized all the details yet, below is our energy packed spring NOR’BEASTER line-up. There will be bands you will recognize, retail sales along the road, plus the Taste of Killington (a sampling K’s finest restaurants). Truly “One Killington”, hear the Beast roar!
