The Beast is Back: Opening Weekend 2013
Posted by Killington Resort on October 31, 2013
I wanted to update our guests on our early season opening and give an outlook to our plans in future weeks.
Passholder Appreciation Day
Our second annual Passholder Appreciation day was a lot of fun. We had about 500 passholders show up – not bad for an October Friday with short notice! If you missed this event, don’t worry, we will do some other events for passholders during the season.
The first guests even received a limited edition hat. Check out our gallery to see it and more images from opening weekend! You may even recognize a few faces.
Are we open for the season? What is the Operational Plan moving forward?
I think most people have been surprised at how nice the conditions have been in the past week. Full midwinter skiing conditions have visited us early (no rock skis needed). We continue to make snow around the clock as conditions permit. We've mostly focused in the North Ridge area on Rime and Reason/Upper East Fall to ensure that we can stay open even during the forecasted warm spell. Once we have a sufficient base in this area, we will continue our march down Great Northern to the K-1 area to go after some top to bottom skiing. We hope to stay open for the season and don’t plan to close until June (weather permitting).
Thanks for continuing to provide feedback so we can work to improve your experience at our resorts. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org anytime.
