We will welcome the return of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup, women’s Giant Slalom and Slalom events at Killington Resort November 24 – 26, 2017.

An event of this stature requires a large team to coordinate and carry out the details. The volunteer team will consist of approximately 400 volunteers based at Killington Resort from November 18 – 28, 2017.

We anticipate returning volunteers will fill most positions, with any new volunteer assignments made based on skills and experience. Due to the strict requirements to volunteer on the Race Course Crew, combined with the team built from 2016, we are not recruiting volunteers for the 2017 Race Course Crew.

Applications for new volunteers are being accepted through October 1, 2017, please email to apply. Beginning, October 2, 2017 we will accept names for a waitlist.

How do I apply for a volunteer position?

Applications for volunteer positions are submitted via an online form.  After submission, you will receive an email confirming your submission. Please check your Spam and Junk email folders for this email confirmation.

If I volunteered last year, do I need to complete the application again for this year?

Yes, you do need to complete the application to ensure we have current personal and emergency contact information, and that you have signed the required 2017 event releases of liability. There is a section on the application that asks if you volunteered for last year’s event, and if so, in what capacity.  As a returning applicant, you will not need to complete the Skills, Experience and Membership section information unless you prefer to do so.

What positions exist for assigned volunteers?

A list of volunteer assignments, duties, qualifications and anticipated dates are listed in the position information. As part of the application process, you will have the opportunity to review the position descriptions and requirements.

What are the requirements to be a volunteer?

As a representative of the ‘World Cup team,’ your enthusiasm for and dedication to the sport of alpine ski racing, and Killington Resort are paramount. Also required is that all volunteers:

  • Be 18 years of age or older on day of assignment
  • Participate in Volunteer General Orientation
  • Attend position-specific training session(s)
  • If selected, it is expected you will carry out defined roles and expectations in a responsible manner; failure to do so may result in dismissal as a volunteer.

Sorry, no snowboarding allowed within the race arena or on course.

What are the time commitments?

Volunteer shift opportunities will vary from five to eight-plus hours per day. While many members of the race course crew will be working anywhere from 5-10 days, there are some positions that require volunteer staffing only on event days.  Daily operation hours vary depending on the position, with a typical operating day from 6:00 – 18:00.  Completed volunteer hours can and will vary greatly depending upon your availability and position, and those who complete a minimum of 20 hours earn an event jacket.

How do I know if I’m assigned a volunteer position?

All applicants will be contacted with either an offer or decline. Volunteer selections, placements and notifications will begin in late-August.

I’m coming from out of town to volunteer; how do I learn about area lodging, dining and community services?

Killington Resort and the Killington/Pico Area Association provide online resources for lodging and travel information.
