Imagine swath of snow 66 feet wide and stretching for 100 miles. Or enough snow to bury a football field more than 600 feet deep. That’s how much snow we produced here at Killington with the world’s Most Extensive Snowmaking System during the month of December.

The National Weather Service is throwing darts at the forecasting dartboard and trying to figure out just how much snow we’re in for over the next few days. But, according to my contact at the NWS in Burlington (who is also a skis), we’re in for some good snow over the next few days, so much so, that he’s planning to make a drive south and product test with us on Monday.

Our FreeAire Economizer Systems installed on nine of our walk-in coolers and freezers here at the resort continue to pay huge environmental rewards. The system works by tapping into the greatest source of refrigeration ever created: Winter.

Our snowmaking crew continues to take advantage of optimal temperatures and the World’s Most Extensive Snowmaking System to blanket additional terrain. Looks like Mother Nature will also lend a hand with some light snow for the next few days and maybe a more significant storm into the Christmas Holiday Weekend.
