Beast News :: National Safety Awareness Month Was A Blast

Whether it was a sweet new helmet cover from the Creation Stations or making a new friend with one of our Mountain Ambassadors, the results are in: National Safety Awareness Month at Killington and Pico was a win for everyone! We polished up on our responsibilities, safe skiing and riding, and our artistic skills, too.

Speaking of winners, we’re proud to announce the winners of the National Safety Awareness Month Poster Contest! Our local elementary students gave it their all, and we’re lucky to have such talented kids out there. Congratulations to the winners, from Killington Elementary School:

Evan J., Best Overall Safety Message
Heidi A., Runner-up
Lilly K., Most Creative Design
Hannah B., Runner-up

Each of the winners and runners-up received gift cards to Killington Sports as well as entry into the National Ski Area Association’s National Safety Poster Contest. National contest winners will be announced later this spring and will be featured in a summer issue of the NSAA Journal.

Sponsored by the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA), Killington Resort and Pico Mountain, the poster contest’s mission includes promoting skiing and snowboarding safety awareness and education to elementary school children, supporting classroom curriculum related to sports, health and safety, and offering kids a chance to have fun and be creative while learning about slope safety. The poster contest invites kids from ski areas around the country to create posters illustrating a point of Your Responsibility Code – the seven rules of slope safety - or a point of Smart Style – the four elements that help explain the use and progression of freestyle terrain at mountain resorts.
