Mike's News: Skinning, Activities and Kicking off 2014

Pre-Christmas weather at Killington was not the best, but our mountain operations team proved they know how to get the trails back into shape. A little natural snow hasn’t hurt, either, and the weather pattern looks good for cold and snow. Here is an update on what’s been going on here.

Skinning and Uphill Traffic, 24 Hours A Day
As skinning and snowshoeing has become more popular in recent years, we decided to come up with a program so our guests can experience the mountain activity. We will be allowing uphill travel 24 hours a day, but we need participants to observe some simple “rules of the road”. To learn more about our program click here.

The Ledgewood Yurt Returns
As many of you know, we have had the Ledgewood Yurt in the woods for several years. We take about 25-30 people on Saturday nights on a sleigh-drawn ride to experience a five course meal. Guests loved it so much that we decided to move the Yurt onto terrain accessible by skiing. You’ll now find it on the Northbrook Trail (get off Snowshed Quad, run under that lift about 100 yards, take a right (off of Snowshed Slope) onto the Northbrook Trail; the Ledgewood Yurt is on the right). The Yurt will be open for lunches on weekends and holidays starting this Saturday, January 4, 2014. Saturday night excursions will still be by reservation, but lunch will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Stop by and check it out.

Tubing Opens for the Season
Due to weather, we were a little behind on getting tubing operations going. We were able to open tubing for the season with 8 lanes, along with the Clubhouse Bar and Grill right at the park for drinks and hot food. Check out the details here.

The Peak Lodge Is Open
If you haven’t heard, we opened our brand-new Peak Lodge last week. Come on up and check out the view once it stops snowing! I think you will see that it is truly a different experience than any of our other Base Lodges. Read about it here.

As always, feel free to get in touch with your questions and comments at msolimano@killington.com. We'll see you on the hill.

Thanks,

Mike
