Weekend Operations Update, Jan. 13-15

What could be better than low temperatures and snowmaking around the clock? Natural snow of course! As of 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, Mother Nature delivered seven inches of SNOW. Oh and did we mention, it’s still snowing!

We would like to thank all of you who broke out your snow dance because this storm is slated to continue through Friday! Do you suddenly feel under the weather; are you feeling a cough coming on? Then you should probably take off work tomorrow so you can experience the outstanding conditions at The Beast.

For this weekend, we’ll be skiing and riding on 33 miles of open terrain for all ability levels. Depending on the amount of new snowfall overnight, the trail count may increase from 73 – be sure to think snow. Speaking of trails, Outer Limits – the longest, steepest mogul trail in the East – is now open for skiing and riding at Bear Mountain along with Wildfire and Bear Claw.

Please note Middle and Lower Skyeburst will be closed to the public. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Snowmaking will resume across Killington’s six peaks on Friday. Cue the drum roll please; our snowmakers will begin piling up the snow on Sunrise Peak and down to Skyeship base with an anticipated opening of Friday, Jan. 20 - let the cheers begin! Additionally, we’ll be making snow in the Needle’s Eye area, The Stash, Upper Header as well as resurfacing across the peaks.

The Mouse Run Terrain Park is open with 25 features and our talented Park Crew will begin to build the lower portion of the Timberline Terrain Park Friday. Yes, the cheering should continue, Timberline will open Saturday with 14 features and five small to medium jumps. And while we’re talking park, snowmaking will begin next week in Dream Maker and The Stash will open next weekend.

This weekend is shaping up to be incredible with new snow, new trails, new terrain parks and snowmaking on new terrain. Is it possible for this weekend to get better? It sure it, because Killington has a new lift-served Tubing Park! Now you can enjoy snow tubing under the lights until 9:00 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday this weekend. So grab your friends, your family and continue on-snow fun at Killington's multi-lane tubing park, located across from the Killington Grand Resort Hotel.

As many as 19 lifts are scheduled to operate this weekend including the Bear Mountain Quad, Skyeship Gondola Stage II and Needle’s Eye Express Quad. With the anticipated temperatures projected, expect to see more terrain open, so stay tuned. The K-1, Snowshed, Ramshead and Bear Mountain Lodges will be fully open.

Lifts this weekend will be open from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and tickets will be $86 for adults (19-64), $73 for Young Adults/Seniors (13-18/65+) and $60 for Juniors (7-12).
