Fiddle Me Snow; Buy a Helmet and Score a Ticket
Posted by Tom Horrocks on January 14, 2010
It’s been three years since we made snow on Devil’s Fiddle and a lot of folks are saying what took so long?
Well, after charging the system Tuesday morning, we had a few miscues and went in and replaced a few hydrants. After re-charging we fired up 13 guns, and then brought 8 more online throughout the day Wednesday. By Thursday, we had 28 guns going. For those of you who didn’t get a chance to ski the Fiddle under the guns, Andrew Weyl shot this helmet cam video, to show some great conditions.
With warmer temps moving in for the next couple days, snowmaking operations will scale down and provide our crew a much-needed break over the holiday weekend. All told, we had approximately 48 hours of production on the Fiddle by late Thursday afternoon and the system worked very well.

National Safety Awareness Week kicks off Saturday at Killington and every ski resort across the country. Bruce Edwards, the business writer at our local newspaper – the Rutland Herald – wrote a great story on what area resorts are doing to promote helmet use.
Here at Killington and our sister resort – Pico Mountain – we’re offering a free midweek lift ticket voucher for every helmet purchased at Killington Sports or Pico Sports during National Safety Awareness Week.
