The Beast loves being open!

Thanks to the power of the world’s most extensive snowmaking system and some cold temperatures, we’ll be skiing and riding Friday and Saturday at Killington Resort. In fact, we will take advantage of every opportunity to offer our guests early-season skiing and riding at Killington! Sunday’s operational status is pending weather and snow conditions.
We’re expecting four open trails (Rime, Reason, Upper East Fall and a combination of Great Northern Upper/Middle/Middle Chute/Lower Bunny Buster trails) and two lifts – the K-1 Express Gondola and the Northridge Triple spinning from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Plus, Rosey and the park crew will be adding another feature to the early-season terrain park on Reason.
Depending upon weather and snow conditions, walking may be required on the lower portion of the mountain. And please be aware that early season conditions exist. We will offer Blue Square (more difficult) and Black Diamond (most difficult) trails only. No Green Circle (easier) terrain will be available.
For the best skiing and riding conditions, stay up top in the Northridge area on Rime, Reason and Upper East Fall Trails. The Great Northern Upper/Middle/Middle Chute/Lower Bunny Buster trail combination will take you back to the base of K-1, however, we suggest you enjoy the Northridge area and only venture back to the base when necessary.
Reminder for season pass holders, who have not received their passes in the mail, and those that haven’t returned their Express Assumption of Risks form, you may pick up your passes and return signed form at the Snowshed Sales Center from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Early-season lift tickets are $49 for adults (19-64), $44 for Young Adults (13-18) and Seniors (65-69) and $39 for Juniors (7-12) and Super Seniors (70+). But … don’t pay window rates! Pick up a Killington Express Card for just $26 and save $10 off window rates Friday and Saturday and up to $20 off everyday of the 2009-10 season.

Great observation Randy! However, the temperature displayed on the website is based upon the elevation at the Snowshed Lodge at approx. 2,000 feet. We are experiencing an inversion as it is currently 33 degrees at the base of K-1 and the temperature goes up from there. So unfortunately, it is too warm to make snow.

Its 27 degrees and killington is not even making snow. I would not call that even putting in an effort. If you made snow when it was cold it would stick around through the bad times.MAKE SOW DOWN LOW RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!

$49 seems a bit much for +/- 4 trails. Still great to see the early season opening though.
