KILLINGTON RESORT ANNOUNCES $8.4 MILLION IN ON-MOUNTAIN IMPROVEMENTS, NEW SKYE PEAK EXPRESS
March 18, 2008

Background Information:  Vermont's Killington Resort, the largest ski and snowboard resort in the East, announces 2008-09 season pass prices and $8.4 million in on-mountain improvements to kick off its 50th birthday season. Leading the list of improvements is a new high-speed detachable quad to replace the existing fixed-grip Skye Peak Quad operating out of the Bear Mountain base area. The new Skye Peak Express will cut the ride time from 13 minutes to just under 5 minutes. The new lift will improve access to intermediate cruising terrain on Skye Peak, Bear Mountain's premiere terrain parks and some of the best free skiing/riding trails and glades in the East.

LATEST STORM DROPS 11 INCHES, ALREADY 69 INCHES FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY

Background Information: Killington Resort has received 11 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours. So far for the month of February, Killington has received 69 inches of snow. Over the past 20 years, the February average is 55 inches. March is the snowiest month of the season, averaging 57 inches. Killington averages 250 inches annually and to date has already received 218 inches.

 KILLINGTON RESORT BLANKETED WITH NINETY PLUS INCHES OF SNOW IN DECEMBER

Background Information: For only the second time in the past 20 years, Vermont’s Killington Resort has received 92.5 inches of snow for the month of December with 11.5 inches falling on the final day of the year. The last time Killington received more than 90 inches of December snow was in 2003 when a record 96 inches were recorded for the month. Skiers and riders are rejoicing the powder conditions as the first of two significant winter storms rolled up the East Coast Sunday night into Monday morning. The second storm, in which the National Weather Service has already issued a Winter Storm Watch, is expected to arrive New Year’s day and cover the largest ski resort in the east with more than six inches of additional snow. To date, Killington has received 106.5 inches of snow with an average mid-mountain base depth of 38-46 inches. Killington averages 250 inches annually. Currently Killington has 181 of 200 open trails with more terrain opening as additional snowfall is received.

SKIERS, RIDERS REJOICE AS WINTER STORM ROLLS INTO KILLINGTON RESORT

Background Information: Skiers and riders are rejoicing the powder conditions as a significant winter storm rolling up the East Coast has already dropped six inches of snow as of 11 a.m. at Killington Resort, and heavy snow continues to fall.
The National Weather Service is forecasting up to another five inches of snow and continued snow showers for the next few days. Currently Killington has 42 trails open with an average mid-mountain base depth of 24-32 inches and powder/packed powder surface conditions. Continued snowfall and snowmaking temperatures will result in additional terrain for the coming weekend.
“This storm has already provided a huge boost in terms of improving the already outstanding early-season skiing and riding conditions,” said Dave Rathbun, director of sales and marketing at Killington Resort. “We’ve also seen a significant increase in folks calling our central reservations and going online to book vacations, especially for the upcoming holiday season.”

KILLINGTON OPENS FOR THE 2007-08 SKI AND SNOWBOARD SEASON
November 16, 2007
Background Information: Killington Resort opened for the 2007-08 ski and snowboard season at 9 a.m. on Friday, November 16th with 15 trails served by four lifts. Two inches of new snow in the past 24 hours complemented the world's most extensive snowmaking system to cover all trails with a base depth of 18-24 inches. Continued cold temperatures will allow Killington to offer expanded terrain for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

KILLINGTON PEAK RECEIVES FIRST SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL OF THE 2007-08 SEASON

November 6, 2007

Background Information: The first significant snowfall of the 07-08 season fell overnight and throughout the morning on Nov. 6 above 3,000 feet. Killington Peak, elevation 4,241 feet, reported 6 inches of new snow. Colder temperatures forecasted for the next seven days will allow for aggressive snowmaking to continue in preparation for opening day, tentatively scheduled for Friday, Nov. 16.

Background Information: Killington Resort has begun snowmaking operations in preparation for the 2007-08 ski and snowboard season. Snowmakers fired up the first guns of the season Sunday afternoon, Oct. 28 on Rime, Reason and Double Dipper trails on the upper sections of Killington Peak. Snowmaking will continue as conditions permit in preparation for opening day, tentatively scheduled for Friday, Nov. 16.

SUNSHINE, SOFT SNOW AND WARM TEMPERATURES CAP OFF 2006-07 SKI AND SNOWBOARD SEASON

Background Information: Spring skiing continues at Killington Resort through this Sunday, May 6 with one lift serving nine trails. The weather forecast through Sunday is calling for sunny skies and temperatures in the 50's to low 60's. Killington received 294 inches of snow for the season, including 65 inches for the month of March and 86 inches for the month of April.

ST. PATRICK'S DAY STORM DROPS 18 INCHES OF NEW SNOW AT KILLINGTON

Background Information: The third major Nor’easter of the season has proven that Killington Resort, the “King of Spring,” has the luck of the Irish on St. Patrick’s Day with 18 inches of new snow. Killington currently has 193 open trails, served by 31 lifts. The forecast is calling for snow to continue through Tuesday as the latest storm brings Killington’s season total to 189 inches of snow, including 46 inches since March 1.
