What Level Skier/Rider am I?

 First Time Hasn’t skied or snowboarded before.  Hasn’t ridden a chairlift.  
Will be learning to glide, turn and stop.
 Green Zone

Can link turns together, control speed, and stop on Easier (Green Circle) trails.  
Can ride a chairlift independently.
Can make different size turns on Easier (Green Circle) trails.
Is working toward becoming a more comfortable and relaxed skier or rider.
Is starting to venture onto some More Difficult (Blue Square) trails.
Will be continuing to develop turn shapes and sizes, and build confidence.

 Blue Zone

Increased, controlled speed is helping to maintain a smoother flow of skiing and riding.  
Skis or rides on a variety of More Difficult (Blue Square) trails and some Most Difficult (Black Diamond) trails.  
Is starting to carve turns and use the ski or board as a tool.  Is developing more dynamic skills and style.
Interests may include skiing and riding on steeper trails, carving more precise turns, flat ground freestyle maneuvers, and introduction to terrain parks.

 Black Zone

Is enjoying the satisfaction of skiing and riding “hard” and is searching for more interesting lines of descent, rather than simpler ones.  Is using terrain for fun, but when bumps get bigger, technique may suffer proportionately.
Is focusing on making quicker turns.  Skiing and riding pace is becoming more intense, powerful and efficient.  Maintaining control on all terrain in varying conditions has become a key goal.
Wants to become more comfortable skiing and riding in moguls and increasingly challenging conditions.  Wants to be a more versatile skier or rider and refine existing skills.  
Is skiing and riding on Most Difficult (Black Diamond) trails, but may explore other terrain choices like Extremely Difficult (Double Black Diamond) trails, tree skiing areas, and different kinds of freestyle terrain, including terrain parks and pipes.
Instruction is fast-paced, challenging, and geared to very accomplished skiers and riders.
