Snow Report

Killington Resort's Daily Report

November 5, 2026 4:19 PM

Hey, Beast fans!

Summer is officially in the rearview, and we've got eyes on another big winter coming up. Around 135 snowguns were online this past weekend, coating Great Northern, Rime, Upper East Fall, and Reason as we prepare for Opening Day. Temps are out of range at the moment, forcing us to put a pause on production, but check out our webcams to see our progress.

As we switch gears to winter, please note that all hiking and mountain biking trails are now closed. Uphill travel is also not permitted on the mountain and the Golf Course is closed to the public at this time as our team works to prepare for winter operations.

Our Snowmaking team has been making the most of every opportunity to get The Beast ready for winter. Unfortunately, with no favorable snowmaking window in this week’s forecast, we will not be able to open this weekend.

We’re taking a more aggressive approach to early-season snowmaking, getting started earlier in October and taking advantage of more marginal temperatures than we have in recent years. Our strategy focuses on building substantial snow piles early, giving that snow more depth to better withstand periods of above-freezing temperatures. This helps preserve the snow we’ve already made while establishing a strong foundation for the season ahead. Once temperatures return to more favorable snowmaking conditions, our team can pick up right where they left off and continue building a lasting base for winter.

Speaking of winter, the countdown to the Stifel Killington Cup presented by Dunkin’ is ON! We’re just over a month away from welcoming the world’s fastest women’s alpine ski racers to Superstar, November 27–29, for a weekend packed with world-class racing, live music, and thousands of ski fans. And the excitement doesn't stop on the slopes! Our live music lineup is officially here, so grab your tickets and get ready for an unforgettable weekend!

But wait, there's more! Mikaela Shiffrin is bringing her podcast, What's the Point, to the Kona Big Wave Stage for a live taping on Friday, November 27, from 4:45–5:10 p.m., followed by a press conference with her Stifel U.S. Ski Team women's tech teammates from 5:10–5:30 p.m. Check out our full Stifel Killington Cup Weekend Guide to check out the full lineup and plan your weekend!

As we enter our third year under independent ownership, we’re investing another $15 million in capital improvements, bringing our total infrastructure investment to $80 million since fall 2024. With another $200 million in projected capital expenditures over the next decade, we’re continuing to build better experiences for you and an exciting future for The Beast. Check out our latest Insider Blog for all the details.

We know you’re eager to get back on the mountain and we are, too! We are always striving to give our guests and passholders the best possible experience, and that starts with opening when we can deliver quality conditions.

Keep thinking snow and cold temps!
