Mountain Report

Hey, Beast fans,

We woke up this morning to temps in the 20s at the peak, sunny skies, and SNOWMAKING! Safe to say it was an exciting day to be on the mountain. 

 
With temps in range for making snow, our snowmaking team fired up six fan guns for testing in three different locations: four fan guns at the bottom of Superstar plus two new SMI Super Puma fan guns on Mouse Trap and Lower Skyeburst. Over the next couple of weeks, more snowmaking action will be taking place before the big push towards the upcoming season begins. 
 
In other news, it’s gorgeous out! We’re expecting partly cloudy skies on Wednesday with pockets of sunshine. We’ll start the day with temps in the mid-30s, but the forecast is calling for it to get up into the high-50s by the late afternoon. It’ll still be quite breezy making things feel chilly, so be sure to layer up before heading out to check out the beautiful leaves. 

Check out our webcams to see the pretty reds, oranges, and yellows, or better yet, come up and take it all in for yourself. Peak foliage comes and goes, so be here to enjoy it.

The K-1 Gondola is spinning daily for Scenic Gondola Rides or for access to our Bike Park! Catch a ride up to Vermont's highest lift-served peak on any day through October 12 from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with the last cabin heading uphill at 4:30 p.m. The Peak Lodge will be open again today with grab-and-go food & drink options available. The grill will reopen on Wednesday to offer some more hot food options for the remainder of the week. 

In the rest of the Bike Park, Ramshead and Snowshed will continue operating daily from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. through Oct. 12. After Indigenous Peoples’ Day, both lifts will shift to Fri.-Sun. operations through Oct. 18, with just Snowshed operating for our final scheduled Bike Park weekend on Oct. 23–25.

The Bike Park is riding great and there’s a little something for every rider! For a more flowy ride, swing by our Snowshed pod and check out the latest work from our Trail Crew. The upper section of Step It Up recently received a full refresh, complete with reshaped berms and more rollers. The middle section is closed for additional trail work, but Upper Stinky, Lower Stinky, and Off the Top remain open, providing ride lines around the work area. 

Even if you're just looking to get comfortable with two wheels beneath you, there are plenty of beginner-friendly options to get warmed up. Easy Street to Wiggle is a great place to get your wheels turning, while Roller is open with fresh bridge repairs for a smooth cruise. Plus, you can spend some time in the Easy Street Progression Park located right in our Snowshed Base Area before taking on some of the bigger features around the mountain. 

Over on Ramshead, the Trail Crew has also moved some serious dirt. Lower Sideshow Bob recently received a complete makeover and is open top to bottom with smooth berms and freshly worked dirt. Even as the foliage starts to fall, our team is still cleaning up out there and making sure too many leaves aren't clogging up any sections of trails. 

Up on the K-1 Gondola, classics like Cable Trail, Snake Bite, and The Beast are all offering a fun challenge with classic technical ride lines from the peak. Please note, in the next day or so, Scarecrow, Low Rider, and Upper and Lower Steel Panther will temporarily close for continued work on the new Snowdon Quad 

Trails may temporarily close during the day as trail work and leaf blowing operations take place, so be sure to check our Lifts & Trails Status page for the latest updates before heading out.

The Adventure Center will be closed again, but will open for one final long weekend this season on Saturday, October 10 through Monday, October 12. 

It's hard to beat the views from the Golf Course this time of year, and there's only less than a week left to enjoy them! We had a slight frost delay on the course this morning after last night’s cold snap, but the course is back open. The Pro Shop will have some grab-and-go options available again, though the Clubhouse Grill is back open on Wednesday for full food and beverage services. 

Tee times can still be booked online until the course closes for the season after Monday, October 12. Please note that the Golf Course and Clubhouse Grill will also be closed Friday, Oct. 9, for a private tournament. 

Looking to earn your views this foliage season? All of our hiking trails remain open except for Trail C. Please follow all posted construction and event signage around the K-1 Base Area, and check out our hiking map before heading out. 

Our annual Harvest Faire returns this Saturday, October 10, bringing along family fun including kids’ activities, hayrides, live music from The Loonz, axe throwing (18+), and the crowd-favorite stein-hoisting competition (21+). Everything listed here is free, so don't miss out on a classic autumn weekend!
