Winter Starts When We Say So
Killington has one of the longest ski seasons in the East. We're typically first to open in the fall and last to close in the spring — so don't store your winter gear too far, because next season is always just a few months away.

Winter Operating Plan & Base Area Hours
The information below is a guide to our general operating plan and hours. Given that skiing and riding are weather dependent, none of this information is a guarantee and is always subject to change based on weather, snow conditions, and other factors.

Early Season: Opening Day Through Mid-November
Unlike most resorts, we don't set an opening date. As soon as Mother Nature graces us with cold temperatures, our snowmaking team jumps into action and takes every opportunity to make snow to get us open. When opening day is confirmed, you'll hear about it first.
What to expect when we first open:
- Terrain: North Ridge area via the K-1 Gondola and Peak Walkway
- Walking required until we're skiing top to bottom
- First day is typically reserved for season pass holders only
- Opens 7 days a week, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Last gondola ride up: 3:00 p.m.
- Last run down Northridge: 3:00 p.m. when walking is required to exit
There may be times when you must walk both down and up the Peak Walkway. Other times you can ski/ride from Killington Peak all the way to the North Ridge and only walk up the walkway at the end of your day to ride the gondola back to K-1 base.
Regular Season: Mid-November Through Early May
Once top-to-bottom skiing is established between Killington Peak and K-1, hours shift to regular season hours.
Monday-Friday: 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Saturday, Sunday & Peak Days*: 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Late Season — May Through Early June
Like our opening plan, we don't set a closing day — we ski and ride for as long as the snow lasts. Only intermediate and advanced terrain is available during late season. We operate daily through April. Starting mid-May through end of season, we run Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only.
Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sunday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Monday through Thursday: Closed
Early Lift Opening at Bear Mountain
From MLK weekend through March, the Bear Mountain Quad opens at 7:30 a.m. every Saturday. Be first to enjoy fresh tracks on the mountain.
Check the Mountain Report for real-time information and updates, including lift status and base lodge openings. Base Lodge services are available 30 minutes before lifts open and 30 minutes after lifts close. Schedule is subject to change due to weather and special events.

K-1 Gondola Operations & Maintenance
This summer, the K-1 Gondola operated primarily on Friday through Sunday, shifting from last year’s Thursday through Sunday schedule to provide additional time for planned lift maintenance.
The work is part of Killington’s broader $1.3 million investment in lift maintenance projects across the resort. This summer marks the first phase of a larger, two-phase project on the K-1 Gondola, with crews completing targeted maintenance on key components, including acceleration and deceleration systems, drive and brake systems, and other reliability-focused upgrades.
Phase 2 of the project is planned for summer 2027 and will require the K-1 Gondola to be closed for the majority of the summer while more extensive work is completed. Together, these improvements are an important investment in the long-term reliability of the gondola and the guest experience for years to come. Additional details about summer 2027 operations will be shared as plans are finalized.
For this season, the K-1 Gondola will continue daily fall operations through October 12.
